1. Shamsi Badal oglu Badalbeyli 1911-1987 Shamsi Badalbeyli was famous Azerbaijani theatre director, People’s Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR. He was father of the People’s Artist of the USSR Farhad Badalbeyli, brother of the composer Afrasiyab Badalbeyli.
2. Enver Majid oglu Behbutov 1912-1993 From 1954 to 1959, Behbutov was the chief director of Kazan State Academic Bolshoi Drama Theatre named after V. Kachalov, and from 1959 to 1964 – of the Drama Theatre named after M. Gorky in Rostov. In 1965, Enver Behbudov was awarded the title of People’s Artist of the RSFSR, thus became the first Azerbaijani to receive this title. Since 1966 Enver Beybutov was the main director of the Azerbaijan Opera and Ballet Theatre. On the stage of this theater in 1968, Behbutov staged the opera of the famous Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyov «Koroglu». Since 1969, Enver Behbutov was the chief director of the Azerbaijan State Russian Drama Theatre. In 1978-93 he was a teacher at the Moscow State Institute of Culture.
3. Mehdi Asadullah oglu Mammadov 1918-1985 Mehdi Mammadov was the principal director of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after Mr. Akhundova in 1956-1960, 1960 – the principal director of the Azerbaijani Drama Theater named after. M. Azizbekov, in 1978-1982 – the director of the Azerbaijani Russian Drama Theatre named after S. Vurgun. In 1971-1976 he was the Chairman of the Theatre Society (now the Union of Theatre Workers) of Azerbaijan. He is the author of a number of works on art theory and aesthetics, as well as a number of translations.
4. Latif Bashir oglu Safarov 1920-1963 In the early 1950s, he directed several documentary films. In 1955, he directed his first film «Favorite Song» («Bakhtiar»). Rashid Behbutov was invited to the main role. In 1957, L. Safarov directed the film « Under the Broiling Sun» based on the work of Hasan Seyidbeyli «The Rural Doctor». In 1958 he directed the film-sketch «Baku and Bakuvians». Later he made a film about eternal love – «Leyli and Medjnun». In 1958 he was elected the First Secretary of the Union of Cinematographers of the Azerbaijan SSR.
