A symphonic picture “Caravan” was composed by Azerbaijani composer Soltan Hajibeyov in 1945 (the second edition in 1952). For the first time it was performed in 1946 by the Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Azerbaijani conductor Niyazi Taghizade-Hajibeyov.

“Ashig Garib” is a mugham opera written by Zulfugar Hajibeyov in 1915 (in some sources 1916). It was first staged on May 13, 1916, by the troupe of Uzeyir Hajibeyov and Zulfugar Hajibeyov brothers on the stage of the Tagiyev’s Theater (The theater of Azerbaijani millionaire and philanthropist Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev was demolished in 1992, and later the current building of the Azerbaijan State Music Theater was built in its place) in Baku.

Aliya Fatulla gizi Rustambayova, a doctor and member of the partisan movement during World War II, was born in 1907 in Shusha in an oil engineer’s family. Her father was one of the founders of the Azerbaijani oil industry, the former chief of the firm of the Azerbaijani millionaire Musa Nagjiyev. He held the position of chief technical director after the occupation of Azerbaijan by Soviet Russia (1920) and was the deputy chief as well as a member of the board of directors of Azneft (The State Union of Azerbaijan Oil Industry in Baku). Her mother was Azerbaijani doctor, a daughter of Karim bey Mehmandarov who was a native of Shusha. He was one of the first leaders of “Difai” in Karabakh (“protection” from the Azerbaijani), a secret anti-terrorist organization which was created in 1906 in order to fight against the Armenian “Dashnaktsutyun” party.

Sheykh Babi Yagub Mausoleum is located near the Araks River in the cemetery of Babi village in the Fuzuli district of Azerbaijan.
